Cosmetology 12.0401

Program Overview

The Cosmetology program is a comprehensive, three-year training course that combines both theory and hands-on experience to prepare students for employment in the beauty industry or for further post-secondary education. FCCTI offers two instructional sessions daily, allowing students to accumulate the required 1,250 hours needed to qualify for the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology licensing examination. Successful completion of the coursework and passing the exam can lead to licensure as a cosmetologist or nail technician, and students may further pursue advanced training in teaching.

Students practice their skills in a real-world environment through supervised clinics that are open to the public, providing invaluable experience in haircutting, styling, coloring, and various beauty treatments. The program is regulated and licensed through the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology, and its curriculum is carefully designed to meet state standards. Students who do not meet the hour requirement by graduation have the opportunity to complete their training either at FCCTI as adult learners. Upon fulfilling the program requirements, students are well-equipped for employment in full-service salons or for advancement into cosmetology instruction programs.

Students gain technical knowledge and skills in haircutting, hairstyling, chemical treatments, hair coloring, manicures, pedicures, facials, artificial nails, and ethnic hair care, with additional emphasis on anatomy, physiology, salon safety, customer service, and business management.
